30-year-old Dugri man booked for raping tenant

The Dugri police on Thursday booked a 30-year-old man for raping the tenant.

The accused has been identified as Amandeep Singh, a resident of Dugri.

SHO at Dugri police station, inspector Paramjit Singh, said, “The complainant, 19, who is a student of bachelor of computer application (BCA) second year told police that she had availed a room on rent in accused's house. On March 1, when she was preparing tea in the kitchen, the accused struck there and raped her.

The accused even threatened her to not to reveal the things in front of anyone.”

Singh said, “After keeping mum for a few days, she decided to lodge a complaint against the accused, and she lodged a complaint with the Dugri police on Thursday. The police launched a manhunt for the arrest of the accused.”

The accused is married, but had strained relations with his wife. His wife had gone to her parental house a few days ago. The accused is a driver.
