The Patiala police on Thursday claimed to have arrested three key aides of Jagdish Bhola, kingpin in the Fathegarh drug haul case, with 30 kg of a chemical drug, Pseudoephedrine, worth R35 crore in the international market.

As per Patiala senior superintendent of police Hardyal Singh Maan, a police party led by inspector Gurjeet Singh, SHO, Banur, on Wednesday checked a Hyundai Verna car (HR-26-AJ-1019) and arrested Satinder Dhama, a notorious drug smuggler of the region, who is also a trusted aide of Bhola. The police recovered 500 gm of Pseudoephedrine from Dhama.

The SSP added that on revelations made by Dhama, the police arrested another smuggler, Balwinder Sonu, a resident of Kathunangal in Amritsar district, from Delhi. Sonu revealed key places of Dhama's drug smuggling racket and his association with Bhola. Later, the police recovered a Fortuner car (PB-11-AB-0003) with 10 kg of Pseudoephedrine.

Mann said the Fortuner car recovered from Dhama belongs to Bhola. Dhama has already been declared a proclaimed offender in a case registered under the NDPS Act by the Panchkula police.

Later, the police also recovered a Skoda car (PB-10-CM-4009) and 10 kg of Pseudoephedrine from Sonu.

A separate police party arrested Harjeet Singh, a resident of Ambala City, with 5 kg of Pseudoephedrine from Focal Point, Ambala.

"The arrest of all the three, who were closely associated with Bhola, is expected to give vital clues in the case," the SSP claimed.

The SSP said 22 people have been arrested in the drug haul case till now. He added that the Punjab Police have launched a manhunt to nab more than 40 other drug smugglers, who are working for the drug network led by Bhola and others.
