A monthly training camp for members of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Kisan Club was held on Thursday.

About 350 farmers and farmwomen from across the state participated in the camp. President of the club PPS Pangli deliberated on marketing of farm produce with thrust on international demand for basmati.

He lauded farmers for acting as PAU ambassadors in different villages of Punjab under the “PAU Doots” concept for quick dissemination of farm technologies.

Highlighting the activities of the club programme coordinator TS Riar laid emphasis on cooperative marketing and strengthening farmer-scientist linkage for agricultural development.

Earlier, Amrinder S Poonia, secretary of the club, welcomed agricultural-experts and club members. Coordinator of the ladies wing of the club Rupinder Kaur proposed the vote of thanks.

Meanwhile, state-level training-cum-workshop for members of Progressive Beekeepers Association (PBKA) was also organised in which nearly 75 beekeepers participated.

President PBKA, S Sarwan Singh, highlighted the vital role played by PAU in making Punjab emerge as a leader in beekeeping.

During the programmes, farm experts delivered lectures on nutritional importance of fermented products, cultivation of summer pulses, cultivation of summer vegetable crops, post-harvest handling of garlic and onion, poultry farming, quality honey production and role of birds in agricultural-development.
