A 38-year-old man, a resident of Khudi Kalan in Barnala district, was brutally murdered in Manila, capital of Philippines on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Gurbinder Singh.
Gurcharan Singh, father of the deceased, said they had received the information of his son’s death on Thursday morning over the phone.
Gurcharan said: "Gurbinder’s friends told me that some unidentified persons brutally killed him firing three gun shots while he was returning from work on Wednesday night."
Belonging to a poor family, Gurbinder moved to Manila four years ago and have been doing the finance business there for the past one year.
He said that the last time they had talked to Gurbinder was on Wednesday morning.
Besides, exhorting ministry of external affairs to put pressure on Philippines government to arrest the accused in the case at the earliest, family members and local residents of his village pressed center and state government to help the family to bring Gurbinder’s dead body to India for his last rites.
Meanwhile, pall of gloom descended in the village after the death of Gurbinder spread like wild fire.
He was survived by his wife, mother and father.
