The Batala police are yet to trace any of the three accused, who reportedly opened fire at a Batala-based trader and robbed him of Rs70,000 near Shehkupura village on the busy Amritsar-Pathankot national highway on the evening of December 13.

Police claim that they have been working on various theories and will solve the case in the next 24 hours; however, they have failed to make any headway even as the victim had provided them the pictures of all three accused and the registration number of the motorcycle used by them.

When contacted station house officer (SHO) of the Sadar police station Avtar Singh said on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, they had registered a case against three unidentified persons.

“At this point of time, it is almost certain that the accused had complete information about the victim carrying money with him. Right now, we are working on various theories and hope to achieve a breakthrough in the next 24 hours.

Police teams have already been fanned out in various areas and we are close to cracking the case,” he added

Meanwhile, the victim, Rohit Sharma, said he had given the picture of all three snatchers, which was recorded by a CCTV camera installed at the shop at Jaintipur from where he had made collection on the day of robbery, to police, but no action was taken.
