Four persons were killed and one sustained injuries after a car they were travelling in skidded off the Theog-Hatkoti road near Khol Gali, 40-kilometre from here, late on Monday evening.
The victims hailed from Zirakpur of Punjab near Chandigarh. After their Swift car, bearing number PB-65Q-0165, met with the accident, three died on the spot, while the fourth one died during treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) on Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as driver Mandeep Singh (36), Ravi Dhiman (20) and Aman Singh (26). Gurpreet Singh died at IGMC during treatment. The injured has been identified as Vikram Singh.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Rattan Negi said that the mishap occurred probably due to overspeeding. "The vehicle rolled down to 400-feet deep gorge. Vikram Singh informed the police that Mandeep, who was driving the car, lost control over the vehicle near Khol Gali," the DSP added.
The police have registered the case under sections 279, 337 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
