4 get life term in Ricky Dulat murder case in Sangrur

Additional sessions judge BBS Teji sentenced four accused to life term and imposed a fine of `1 lakh on each in the Ricky Dulat murder case here on Tuesday.

The accused who have been given life term are Sukhvinder alias Sukhi of Sangrur, Sultan of Ramgarh Sardara in Ludhiana, Amandeep Singh alias Amu of Sangrur, who was then a student leader, and Ganja Bhalwan.

The case dates back to November 14, 2011 when Ricky Dulat, a local Congress leader, was shot at by his rivals in a land dispute and was declared brought dead in a hospital in Ludhiana.
The police had booked eight people under section 302(murder) of the IPC on the complaint of Ricky's mother Rajinder Kaur.

In her complaint, Rajinder Kaur had alleged that on November 13, 2011 when, she along with her son Amarinder Singh alias Ricky Dulat, and son-in-law Parveen Kumar, was on her way to Dhuri, they were stopped by two cars on the Dhuri bridge.

She alleged that as the car stopped, the occupants of the car started firing at them. Ricky was injured after he was hit by a bullet. The accused, who were involved a land dispute with Ricky, then drove away.

She said he taken to Dayanand Medical College, Ludhiana, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Ricky was a also a business partner with the four who have given life term. The other accused Kuldeep Singh of Ladda, Attar Singh alias Atra Boxer of Sangrur, Jatinder Singh Goldy and Chupinder Singh are still absconding.
