4 held in separate NDPS cases; nearly 1 kg opium seized

Four persons were held on Saturday by Doraha and Samrala police in separate cases on charge of possessing a total of nearly 1 kg of opium and 20 gm of smack. Two brothers were also booked for steeling wood from a godown.

Doraha police arrested Buta Singh of Rano village near Payal on Saturday and allegedly seized 650 gm opium from him during checking near railway crossing at Begowal. A case under NDPS Act was registered against the accused.

Another report said that a police team during checking near minor canal of Gurthali village arrested Hardev Singh of Rano village and seized 300 gm opium from him. He was also booked under NDPS Act at Doraha police station.

Samrala police seized 20 gram smack from two persons on Saturday in two cases. A team of Samrala police during checking near T Point at Malmajra village arrested Deepak Dhaliwal of Mundiya Khurd in Ludhiana district and allegedly seized 10 gram smack from him.

In the second case, a team of Samrala police during checking near Saludi village arrested Shiv Kumar of Jamalpur village and reportedly seized 10 gram smack from him.

Meanwhile, on a statement of Sukhwindpal Sethi of Samrala, police registered a case against Balwinder Singh and his brother Raghbir Singh of the town. The complainant said the duo stole wood from his godown.
