Four car-borne persons looted a Swift Dzire car from a businessman at gunpoint near Circuit House on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. They also snatched the victim's wallet and fled towards Bharat Nagar Chowk.
On being informed, the division number 8 police reached the spot for investigation.
Victim Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Jagraon, said that he had come to Ludhiana to attend a function near Shehanshah Palace on Ferozepur Road. At around 1 am, a Volkswagen car intercepted him. Four miscreants came out and smashed the windowpane of his car with a pistol. They pointed the firearm at him and threatened to keep mum. Then they took the car and his wallet away with them. The wallet was containing `12,000 and some documents. They also took away the wallet of the victim's friend which was lying in the car.
The police have registered a case under Sections 382, 148 and 149 of the IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at division number 8 police station. Investigation officer Swaran Singh said the mobile phone of the victim was lying in the car so the police are tracking the vehicle with the help of mobile location.
