The local court here on Monday acquitted five people in an attempt to murder case registered in 2013.

The acquitted have been identified as Sukhvinder Singh, Sultan Singh, Jitender Singh, Amarinder Singh and Attar Singh who were in jail for the infamous Ricky murder case. The court of Virinder Aggarwal, additional sessions judge, Sangrur, announced the judgment as the prosecution failed to prove the allegations.

It may be recalled here that Parveen Kumar,Ricky's brother-in-law, had filed a complaint alleging that the five people who are also facing charges of Ricky's murder had sent some unidentified persons to kill him at his home on August 26, as he was the key witness in Ricky's murder case.

Yogesh Gupta, counsel for the accused said,"The court has acquitted them due to lack of evidence."On Parveen's complaint, police had registered a case but on Thursday, the court acquitted them of the charges.
