Five players from hockey academies of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) have been selected for the Punjab state Under-19 team.

Disclosing this here on Tuesday, SGPC sports director Prof Balwinder Singh said the selected players are Anmolpreet Singh, Harsukhpreet Singh and Ravideep Singh from the Amritsar Hockey Academy and Ajmer Singh and Manjinder Singh from the Fatehgarh Sahib Hockey Academy.

No player was selected from the Faridkot Hockey Academy, even as some of the players from the academy had been called for the trials.

The five selected players are presently undergoing training with the U-19 team at Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar.

They will soon leave for Maharashtra for the national-level U-19 hockey tournament.
