Nearly 50 pigeons were found dead at Nehru Rose Garden here on Friday following which the local municipal corporation decided to conduct their post-mortem examination.

However, it is learnt that the pigeons could have died due to electrocution but exact reason of death is still unclear.Founder president of Pakshi Sewa Samiti Vipan Bhatia said: "The authorities concerned should conduct postmortem after that only exact reason will be ascertained."

"The authorities concerned should take preventive measures so that no such incident could take place in future," he said.

Municipal corporation joint commissioner AS Sekhon said: "It seems that pigeons could have died due to electrocution as wires were damaged due to storm on Thursday night and fell on a tree on which pigeons were perching."
