530 rural youths to get training and employment

About 530 unemployed youths would be given training and employment opportunities during the next financial year by the State Bank of Patiala Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBPRSETI), Fatehgarh Sahib.


A meeting of the local advisory committee of SBPRSETI, held Wednesday under the Chairmanship of Deputy commissioner Arun Shekri, reviewed the performance of the Institute and appreciated the role played by it for providing training and generating employment for rural youth.

SBPRSETI Director Chaman Lal Singla informed that during the current financial year, training has been provided to 465 candidates in district Fatehgarh Sahib. Credit linkage has been provided to about 100 candidates and more than 50% of trained candidates have started their own business.

The annual action plan for 2014-15 has also been approved wherein more than 530 candidates in the age group of 18-45 years are to be provided training and employment opportunities. A budget of `13.15 lakh has been approved for the purpose.

The institute is providing training in various courses free of cost and boarding/lodging facility is provided to candidates who come to attend the training programmes. The institute trains poor youth of the district to eradicate unemployment for which the central government, state government and State Bank of Patiala are providing help to the institute.

ADC (Development) B S Sandhu, SBI AGM Bimal Maheshwari and NABARD AGM Shashi Kumar were among others who attended the meeting.
