The jail officials conducted a special checking after receiving a tip-off about the mobiles.

He added that one mobile phone was found outside the barrack and while five mobiles and two SIMs were recovered from the barrack.

“The team searched each and every corner of the barrack and recovered three mobiles from Karam, Hardeep and Somil Raj,” said Dhaliwal.

“Sanjeev and Manjit were sharing a mobile, while a mobile including SIM was recovered from Pardeep and Karnail was caught with a SIM,” Dhaliwal added.

A case has been registered under Section 52 A of the Prison Act at Tripuri police station following the complaint of jail officials.
