A total of 680 cases were disposed off in the four lok adalats held at Sangrur court complex and Sunam, Dhuri and Malerkotla sub-divisions on Saturday.
Meanwhile, a total amount of around Rs 80 lakh was realised in the cases settled during these lok adalats.
Former sessions judge Satin Goyal and civil judge BS Ramana headed the lok adalat in Sangrur. Meanwhile, Amanpreet Singh (former civil judge), Parminder Kaur (former civil judge) and Sanjeev Kundi (former civil judge) headed the lok adalats at Sunam, Malerkotla and Sunam, respectively.
District and sessions judge Balbir Singh said more people should come forward and put their case in the lok adalat, as it is free of cost. “And if the lok adalat reaches out to some decision, then the earlier paid court fees will get refunded to the people filing the case,” he said, adding that the decision taken by the lok adalat could not be challenged in upper courts.
