Nearly 7,654 unemployed teachers formed a union to discuss the problems faced by them on Wednesday. A meeting was also organised at Chhatar Singh Park here.

Four years ago, the Punjab government had promised to recruit 7,654 teachers, but only 5,282 teachers have been recruited so far. The remaining 2,372 candidates are still awaiting counselling and will decide further course of action if the counselling is not conducted by the government soon.
