7 held with 2 kg opium, 35 kg poppy husk and 45 wine bottles

The district police have arrested seven persons from different places during patrolling and seized two kg of opium, 35kg of poppy husk, 45 bottles of wine, a bike and a scooter.

Sardulgarh station house officer inspector Pritpal Singh arrested Harinder Singh Hinda of Sirsa with two kg of opium and a motorbike. Sewak Singh and Sukhdev Singh Gheeti of Gurnekala village were arrested with 20 kg of poppy husk.

Swaran Singh Soni of Lakhiwala village was nabbed with 15.7 kg of poppy husk and booked in Boha police station under Sections 15, 18, 61 and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Mahinder Ram of Mansa was arrested near Dulewala village with nine bottles of wine and Balvir Singh from the same place was caught with 15 bottles of wine. Police recovered a scooter and booked both the accused under Sections 1, 61 and 14 of the Excise Act.

"We want to make Mansa a drug-free district," Mansa senior superintendent of police Harpreet Singh said. "We arrested seven men involved in supplying drugs in the district and seized a huge quantity of drugs. Investigation is on at police stations in the district and we hope to dig out more facts."
