7 hurt as SAD, Cong supporters clash in Tarn Taran

Seven persons were injured in a group clash between SAD and Congress supporters on the issue of distribution of money to woo voters in the gram panchayat elections at Rassiana village on Saturday late night.

According to sources, some supporters of the Congress party were allegedly distributing money in Rassiana village to influence voters for the panchayat elections. SAD activists reportedly raised objections and tried to stop them, but the supporters of both the parties ended up attacking each other with sharp-edged weapons, leaving seven injured.

The injured - Darshan Singh, Navdip Singh, Talwinder Singh, Gurtej Singh, Gurjeet Singh, Angrez Singh and Babbu - were admitted to civil hospital, Tarn Taran. Meanwhile, the police have started investigating the matter. Police said an Akali leader was making efforts to forge a compromise between the two groups.
