7 killed as car skids and rolls down valley in Himachal Pradesh

As many as seven people were killed after their car skidded off the road and rolled down a deep valley at Bahi Kotla village in Ladbhalor, Mandi district, on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

As many as seven people were killed after their car skidded off the road and rolled down a deep valley at Bahi Kotla village in Ladbhalor, Mandi district, on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

While six passengers, identified as Shyam Lal, 60; Achhar Singh, 50; Meera Devi, 44; Babli Devi, 42; Parvati Devi, 65; and Satya Devi, 44, all residents of Kasehra village of Ladbharol area, were killed on the spot, Deva Nand of Kasehra village succumbed to his injuries at Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, Kangra.

Police said the car occupants were returning home after attending a wedding when the incident occurred about 1:30 am on Tuesday, barely 150m from their destination.

Though the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, the police have registered a case under Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Ladbhalor police post and started investigation.
