7 panchayats of Sangrur honoured for improved sex ratio

As many as seven village panchayats of Sangrur district have been honoured for showing exemplary improvement in child sex ratio (CSR).

While giving this information here on Friday, Sangrur civil surgeon Dr Subodh Gupta and district family welfare officer Dr Kuldeep Singh said the panchayats which have been awarded were- Rai Singh Wala, Tolawaal, Jhaaron, Mangwal, Mana, Badharaawa , Mubarakpur Chungaan.

More girls than boys were born in these villages, said Subodh Gupta.

Earlier, Sangrur was known for its skewed sex ratio of 893 women for every 1000 males and slow growth in women literacy rate as per the 2011 census.
