7-yr-old son of property dealer kidnapped

A car-borne man kidnapped a seven-year-old son of a property dealer on Sunday evening at Lateefpura near GTB Nagar.The incident took place outside Model Town Park of the locality when Gurdeep Singh Gopi had gone to the park with his sister Manpreet (11).

Shocked, Manpreet rushed to her house and informed her father Satnam Singh who informed the police.
Gopi’s family members said Manpreet could recognise the kidnapper as she had seen him at her father's shop.

Residents of the locality said the kidnapper was seen clicking Gopi’s picture a few days at the park. They claimed that the suspect was also seen in the locality last week.

After getting information, ADCP-II Harpreet Singh Mander, ACP (crime) Harjinder Singh along with other officials reached Gopi''s house and started investigations in the case.

Congress leaders Jagbir Singh Brar, Manoj Arora also reached the victim’s house and talked to the police officials.

An alert was sent to all police stations and posts in the city and heavy police force was deployed at the entrance points to trace the kidnapper.

Gopi’s grandfather Kashmir Singh said the family did not have enmity with anyone and they have been living in the locality for four decades.

ADCP-II Harpreet Singh Mander said investigations. Initial investigations suggest that the kidnapper is known to Gopi, he added.

The police have picked up several persons in this regard for questioning.
