A 74-year-old man, Surjit Singh, is waiting for his Aadhaar card from the past one year, and the department's website uidai.gov.in shows the status as under process.

Singh, along with his family, applied for Aadhaar card in February 2013, while all six family members received their cards, Singh is still waiting.

The central government has made it compulsory that to avail subsidy in LPG cylinders, it is mandatory to link Aadhaar with bank account.

Surjit's son APS Gill said, "My father has applied for Aadhaar card in February 2013, but he has not received the card till now. From our family, six members have applied for Aadhaar card. When I checked its status online, it showed 'under process'. Without his Aadhaar card, we will not be able to get LPG subsidy as the connection is in his name."

On January 7, 2014, one of executives of Unique Identification Authority of India (uidai) has replied that they have checked the status of the Enrolment ID(s) furnished by us. The official said, "The Aadhaar is under generation, but due to some technical reason it has not been processed further. We are following up with concerned technical team. You may also check the status after few days."

It is pertinent that there must be several other consumers who have not got their Aadhaar cards due to which they are not able to get the LPG subsidy.

Contacted, district food and civil supplies controller Dr Sona Thind said, "The consumers, who have not got Aadhaar cards, can give an application to us. We will then confirm from UIDAI that where the problem is occurring."
