On last day of counselling at the meritorious school, just eight students turned up for the admission in Class 11 on Saturday. For total 500 seats, as many as 260 students have reported for admission till Saturday.
District education officer (DEO), secondary, Paramjit Kaur Chahal, said she even sent letters to students who are in merit list, but to no avail.She said, “I had sent letters to students of different schools who were selected through the merit list to apprise them about the counselling schedule.”
“On Saturday, only a student was admitted in non-medical stream while five, including four girls, turned up for admission in commerce. In medical, two students turned up for admission, all of them, belong to Ludhiana,” informed Anita Gulati, member of counselling committee.
Total 160 students have been admitted in non-medical; 20 in commerce stream; and 71 students in the medical stream against the total 300 seats in non-medical and 100 each in the commerce and medical stream.
The DEO said, “The counselling was also held in SAS Nagar, which is the reason total number of seats filled could be confirmed only after we get know about total number of students who have applied for admission in the meritorious school.”
