9 thieves decamp with mobiles worth Rs 50 lakh

Thieves continue to strike at will as on early Sunday morning, nine thieves targeted a prominent retail mobile showroom, Chadha Mobile House, in the Phagwara Gate market and decamped with around 300 new mobile phones worth Rs 50 lakh.

In the 40-minute heist captured on 20 CCTV cameras of the showroom, around nine persons covered in blankets and caps gathered outside the showroom at 6.14 am and opened the shutter within two minutes and two of them entered inside the showroom.

The other seven thieves remained scattered outside the showroom and nearby Bhagat Singh Chowk.

Both miscreants’ were being seen stealing expensive mobiles, including Apple, Samsung, HTC and Sony and keeping them into bags.

Moreover, they opened cash box of the showroom with the help of a screwdriver and looted Rs 5 lakh in cash.

At 6.52 am, one thief was seen making a call and then others also gathered outside the showroom. At 6.54 am, two miscreants who were inside the showroom came outside and all of them went towards the Phagwara Gate market. Faces of a few miscreants are clearly visible captured into the CCTV footage.

Owner Pawan Chadha of Adarsh Nagar said that thieves had stolen all expensive and branded mobile phones from his showroom, costing around Rs 50 lakh. He said watchman Raj Kumar was on duty from 10 pm to 6 am and he did not know about the incident.

After getting information about the theft, cops accompanied with fingerprint experts rushed to the spot to collect evidence. The police have also taken CCTV footage of the crime and registered a case against unknown people under sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code at the Phagwara City Police Station.

In the jurisdiction of the commissionerate police, it is the 15th theft in last two weeks and police have failed to crack any incident.

Two days ago, unknown persons had decamped with 50 mobiles from Singh Tel Mobiles in Phagwara near the Phagwara city police station.
