Sources in the committee said the Brew Estate was also functioning without clearance from the pollution control board. The Brew Estate management was not available for comments.

For running a microbrewery, permission has to sought from the state excise department besides waste water disposal certificate from the pollution control board and other departments. The committee has ordered the closure and forwarded the orders to the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) concerned. The estate office is yet to comply with the orders.

The three microbreweries were issued notices 15 days ago and were asked to explain why they did not obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the pollution control board beforehand.

Sources said the outlets, which came up early this year, did not have prior permission from the pollution control board. These outlets are supposed take NOCs from various departments before setting up the establishment. Officials said they had not applied for NOC with the pollution control board after setting up shops.

Sources in the administration said the outlets will be closed by the estate office and will be able to function again only after obtaining proper clearances and bank guarantee.
