With major political parties such as the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Congress having blown the bugle for the 2017 assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is not letting itself be far behind.
AAP MP from Sangrur, Bhagwant Mann, on Tuesday announced that his party will be holding a mega rally in January 2016. The rally would be held in Muktsar, probably during the Maghi Fair, Mann said, adding that AAP’s national convener and Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, and other senior AAP leader will be in attendance.
Addressing a gathering here, Mann lashed out at the Akali Dal and the Congress, accusing them of making “every possible effort” to save the “remaining bit of their reputation”. “The people no longer trust the Congress and SAD’s castles in the air,” he said.
Mann said both SAD and Congress were seeking the CM’s chair to run their personal businesses and benefit corporate houses. “Badal cannot let anyone run a business in Punjab without sharing a big part of the profit with the ruling family,” Mann alleged.
Mann also submitted a memorandum with district collector Arshdeep Singh Thind to be sent to Punjab governor, demanding intervention in the accidents caused by Badal-owned Orbit buses.
Mann also took a dig at PM Narendra Modi, saying the ‘Modi wave’ was a thing of the past. “Modi’s magic is over, and it will be proved once again in Punjab’s election as AAP will sweep it out just like it did in Delhi,” Mann added.
