Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has blown the poll bugle in Punjab by stating that it would work against the drug menace in the state and end it if the party is elected in 2017 assembly elections in Punjab.
The party leaders claimed that the drug menace would be ended within two months, if they form government in 2017 Punjab assembly elections. The AAP leaders were addressing a gathering during the Punjab Jodo rally, which was organised at Dana Mandi, Ludhiana, on Saturday.
AAP national leader Sanjay Singh claimed that corruption and drugs are ruining Punjab, which was once known for its various achievements. He alleged that Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia is responsible for drug menace in the state.
He alleged that chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and their associates have looted the state. He expressed hope that they will form government in 2017 assembly elections, following which all drug smugglers and corrupt leaders and officials will be put in jails.
Only some families are ruling in the different states since 1947 due to which the country is being ruined, he added. Further, he suggested to Punjab police to avoid registering fake cases against innocent persons. “The police should not become puppets of Badals, otherwise they will face action after 2017 elections,” he said.
On being asked whether there is any chance that Captain Amrinder Singh would join AAP, Sanjay claimed that it is not possible as Amrinder does other type of politics, which has no match with AAP.
Taking a dig at the state government, Bhagwant Mann, member of Parliament reminded the SAD-BJP manifesto for 2012 assembly elections. He asked the gathering whether any unemployed got `1,000 allowance or any student was given laptop as per election promises by this government.
He said, “The deputy CM has shown dreams to bring metro in Ludhiana, but nothing has been done. Instead of making it like California, the city has been made like Afghanistan now.”
Mann said, “The corrupt leaders of various parties have spoiled Punjab, which is now known for cancer, drugs, hepatitis, sand mafia, cable mafia, transport mafia and other social evils.”
The AAP leaders also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also failed to bring black money back from the foreign nations. The AAP leaders also claimed that they saved `350 crore in Delhi, as they did not take security and this money is being used to provide electricity at low rates.
Besides raising questions over suicide by farmers, Punjab convener of AAP Sucha Singh Chottepur said, “The women are not safe in the state; girls are being raped and murdered.”
He appealed to the people to give complete support in 2017 assembly elections.
“Those who are corrupt are given promotions here. There are different rules for rich and poor people. The poor people are dying due to lack of health services at the government hospitals,” he said.
SAD (Amritsar) protests against AAP leaders
Some persons belonging to Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) staged a protest against the AAP leaders at the rally. They were raising slogans against Arvind Kejriwal and Kumar Vishwas. However, they also raised slogans in favour of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale by raising the pictures.
These persons alleged that the AAP leader Kumar Vishwas has made objectionable remarks against Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale during an interview on a news channel. The police then detained the protestors who were released after a few hours.
Jaswant Singh Cheema, district president of SAD (Amritsar), said, “We want that the AAP should dismiss Kumar Vishwas from the party. The police should also register FIR against Kumar Vishwas, Arvind Kejriwal and the news channel which was telecasting the show where Kumar made objectionable comment.”
On the other hand, the AAP leaders claimed that they have no issue with these persons adding that there can be any misunderstanding.
