In a bizarre complaint, the Aam Aadmi Party's Patiala unit has written to the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the chief manager of State Bank of Patiala for defaming AAP convener Arivind Kejriwal on his Facebook account and campaigning for the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

On April 10, AAP's Right to Information (RTI) wing in charge Shivraj Kamboj had filed an online complaint with the ECI, which the ECI forwarded to GS Chahal, sub-divisional magistrate-cum-returning officer for Patiala-1, for further investigations.

In its complaint, the AAP alleged that Rajeev Gupta, a chief manager at State bank of Patiala main branch, posted and shared objectionable and vulgar content and comments against Kejriwal on his Facebook account.

"Not only this, he made unaccepted comments against leaders of other political parties and our leaders as well,"alleged the complainant.

Kamboj also attached the screen shots of some of his posts to buttress his charges against the banker.

"Being an employee of a public sector bank, he has been continuously uploading content favouring Modi. In many of his posts, he has openly extended his support to Modi in the elections, while condemning Kejriwal badly,"said Kamboj.

He said the complaint was filed after taking AAP candidate from Patiala Dr Dharamvira Gandhi in the loop.

The AAP, in its complaint, has mentioned that Gupta, being office bearer of the Associate Banks Officers Association, which commands nearly 6,000 members in 1,200 branches across India, may influence bank staff's voting choice.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Gupta it was nothing, but his personal views.

"I had posted those contents neither by sitting in office nor in capacity of holding any post in any association,"he said.

"I have been using, commenting and posting content on my account only as an individual, not as a chief manager. Moreover, I have neither campaigned not favoured any of the candidates. I have a right to express my views and there have been no motive behind it,"he added.

Meanwhile, Chahal said they had received the complaint and would carry out thorough investigation.
