Members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Ludhiana, along with activists of party's Punjab against drugs wing held a protest demonstration in front of office of deputy inspector general (DIG) of police against the drug peddlers who attacked Jaswinder Singh Khalsa.

Demanding the arrest of drug smugglers, who allegedly attacked anti-drug campaigner Khalsa in Kaunke Khose village in Jagraon, AAP district convener Ahbaab Singh Grewal said even five days after the incident, the police had not made any headway in the case.

He said relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have not been added to the FIR such as kidnapping, and section 325B was added even after being pressured by the party.

“We demand that the attackers be arrested immediately and that sections of kidnapping should also be added to the FIR. The police officials responsible for this travesty of justice should be suspended and a thorough and impartial inquiry must be done into the matter,” said Grewal.

The party has also raised a pitch over the increasing drug menace that has ruined lives of several youths in the state.

Grewal said “If our demands are not fulfilled, we will launch a continuous protest against this injustice.”

Punjab against drugs wing state head Himanshu Pathak also participated in this protest.
