Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, on Monday, rubbished the claim of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to form a government in Punjab after 2017 assembly elections and described it as ‘living in a fool’s paradise’. The chief minister said that the AAP would meet the same fate that it had met in the recently-concluded byelections where the party’s candidates lost their security deposits.

Talking to mediapersons during his thanksgiving tour of Talwandi Sabo assembly segment, Badal said that the AAP candidates lost their security deposits in the Talwandi Sabo and Patiala byelections, which was an indicator enough to make AAP workers realise that the party had lost its credibility in Punjab and was near oblivion. He added that though, in a democratic country, every person has the right to contest elections, but the people repose faith in only those parties that have credibility and tread the path of serving masses. He said that the people of Delhi gave AAP an opportunity to form its government, but party president Arvind Kejriwal betrayed their faith by resigning from the post of the chief minister.

The chief minister added that the intelligent voters will never believe a party that betrayed people. He claimed that for the past seven years, the stable SAD-BJP alliance in the state is ushering in development and prosperity and due to its credibility, the people of Punjab have re-elected it creating a history.

Badal directed the water supply department to ensure that the problem of water paucity in every village was resolved so that people do not face any kind of problem.
