Morinda (Rupnagar): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders have slammed former Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh for his remarks that AAP is a party of jokers and comedians.
At a rally in Morinda on Friday, AAP national spokesman Ashutosh was the first to launch a scathing attack against Amarinder, saying the Captain, who had looted the state, should be ashamed of his remarks.
He said that in the 2017 assembly elections one would know who the joker is. “In Delhi also, the Congress leaders used to call AAP as a party of novices but the same leaders are nowhere to be seen now,” he said.
AAP Punjab in-charge Sanjay Singh also lashed out at Amarinder. “Amarinder should come out of his palace and see that they are the common people who are the pride of Punjab. He should shed his arrogance,” Sanjay said.
Both Ashutosh and Sanjay highlighted the achievements of the Kejriwal government in Delhi and urged the people of Punjab to ignore both the SAD-BJP alliance and Congress which, they alleged, are corrupt parties, in the elections.
Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann said both the SAD and Congress had become nervous due to the increasing gatherings at the rallies of the party. He said the leaders of both the SAD and Congress were levelling baseless allegations against them, which was a proof that they were rattled by the response to their rallies, adding that they did not bother about such allegations.
AAP state convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur demanded the resignation of Punjab agriculture minister Tota Singh over the purchase of pesticides. He said the removal of the director was not sufficient as the minister should be made accountable for the “pesticide scam”.
