The Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will be launching a statewide membership drive and hold a series of rallies to prepare itself for the 2017 assembly polls in Punjab.
The party's central observer for Bathinda parliamentary segment Romi Bhati said here while addressing mediapersons here on Tuesday that the party would hold a statewide membership drive from August 20 to 30 with the aim of enrolling 20,000 members in each assembly segment. Bhati said that even though the party would be concentrating on inducting members by issuing new membership slips, yet the party has also set up a toll-free number where one can enroll himself as a member by giving a missed call.
He said that the party would also rallies in the state from September 2 to 30 and a total of 39 rallies would be organised by clubbing three assembly segments in one unit across the state. The party would highlight the failures of the state government in putting a check on corruption, drug menace and plight of farmers.
In Bathinda parliamentary segment, rallies would be held at Sardulgarh, Maur and Lambi clubbing three assembly segments for each rally out of the nine constituencies. Bhati said that a state-level rally would be hlld at Chandigarh on October 9, which would be held either outside the assembly if the assembly is in session at that time or outside the residence of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.
