AAP slams Badal regime, demands action against cops
Holding the Badal Government responsible for the current situation in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national spokesperson Sanjay Singh slammed the state government for lathicharge on people who were protesting peacefully at Kotkapura.
Addressing mediapersons at a press conference, Sanjay Singh said, “The circumstances in Punjab have become very critical after the brutal killing of two Sikhs in police firing during the Kotkapura incident. The Akali-BJP government led by Parkash Singh Badal is trying to disturb the hard-earned peace in Punjab very tactfully with an aim to divert the attention of the people from its anti-people policies, which have adversely affected all occupations, ranging from labour, farmers to businessmen.”
He said that a delegation of AAP would meet the Punjab Governor and impress upon him to detail the central government about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. “While the people of Punjab are suffering every day, its chief minister is continuously ignoring this fact,” added the senior AAP leader.
“The situation could have been controlled peacefully through a dialogue between the religious leaders, intellectuals and political leaders but the SAD-BJP itself wanted to plunge Punjab into such a volatile situation where the people of Punjab start fighting with each other,” he alleged.
He said the Guru Granth Sahib was equally respected, valued and adored by Hindus and therefore he would appeal to the Hindu community to stand united with Sikhs and fight out the nefarious designs of the SAD-BJP to spread communal terror.
Speaking on the occasion, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Punjab convener said Parkash Singh Badal was a tyrant which has been revealed first by his callous attitude towards the genuine demands of farmers and now by using police force on the peaceful protesting people where the police unleashed ins terror in the presence of three SSPs, resulting in the killing of two Sikhs.
AAP leaders demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib, termination of police personnel involved in the Kotkapura incidence, adequate compensation to the victim families and dissolution of SGPC House and Punjab government.
