Some people said to be brother and accomplices of Kaunke Khose village allegedly thrashed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteer Jaswinder Singh on Thursday evening for raising voice against the sale of drugs in the area.

AAP district convener Ahbaab Singh Grewal said, "It was a murderous attack and the victim has got five fractures and swollen body and a head injury. But, overlooking the injuries the police have not slammed appropriate sections against the accused."

The police have registered a case under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting) and 149 (offence committed by any member of an unlawful assembly in prosecution of the common object) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and all sections are bailable.

Grewal said, "The attack is is turning out to be a case of government patronage and protection to drug smugglers."

Grewal said, "Aam Aadmi Party will never allow such open patronage of drug smuggling and we will not sit quietly while our volunteers are being brutalised for standing up against the drug trade. AAP will go to court to rectify the flaws in the FIR and we give an ultimatum of 24 hours to the Jagraon police to correct the anomalies in the FIR and arrest the culprits. If this is not done AAP will launch a district-wide campaign to get justice for our volunteer. SAD-BJP government has proven time and again that they are bent on destroying the state and its youth by providing patronage to drug trade."
