Former union minister Preneet Kaur on Saturday asked party workers to rejuvenate and work in tendem to bring a Congress government to power in the state during the 2017 assembly elections.

Preneet was addressing party workers in a thanks giving rally organised by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCCC) vice-president and MLA Lal Singh here.

Preneet asked workers not to get demoralised with her defeat, as the Congress will revive itself very soon. She said the Aam Aadmi Party graph will nosedive as it happened in New Delhi. "AAP is a bubble, that will bust in coming days," she said, adding that there is need to bring the youth back into the party fold.

Lal Singh said after the 1977 emergency era, the Congress was wiped out, but the party bounced back to power in 1980. Similarly, in Punjab in 1997, the party won only 17 seats, but again regained the lost ground and formed the government after the 2002 assembly elections.

"There is no need to panic, Congress is a cadre-based party and it would certainly form government in coming assembly elections in Punjab, as the public is fed up with the misrule of the SAD-BJP government," he said. Lal Singh also attacked the SAD-BJP by terming their coalition as ‘unholy’.

While the BJP is asking for clubbing of rivers, the Akali Dal opposes it. In Haryana, Akali Dal supports the Indian National Lok Dal, against which BJP contested the polls.

"It’s an alliance of opportunists," said Lal Singh, demanding explanation from the chief minister over the sharing of river waters. He said that now the SAD-BJP has no excuse on any issue as they are in government at the Centre and the state. Thus, the SAD-BJP must ensure Rs 1,900 per quintal MSP for paddy, as they demanded from the UPA government.

Apart from that, SAD should press BJP for lowering the prices of diesel, as they demanded in the past.

He said that the formation of the NDA government will help the Congress in the state, as it will expose the double standards of the Akalis.
