AAP district convener, Ahbaab Singh Grewal criticised the municipal corporation (MC) for allegedly gross negligence in the award and execution of contracts for roads.

AAP workers claimed that a road in ward 26 from Jawala Singh Chowk to Tagore School Jassian, which was completed just two months back, has already broken despite the fact that the budget for the project was increased.

Grewal alleged that all documents show that inspite increase in budget the materials used were substandard.

“This clearly shows that the MC officials concerned in connivance with the contractor allowed substandard materials to be used. As a result the road has developed potholes within two months of completion. This just goes on to show the gross incompetence and amount of corruption prevalent in the MC,” he claimed.

“The councilor of the area seems to be complacent in this malpractice for reasons best known to him and is not interested in exposing the facts”, he alleged in note issued to press.
