Abducted girl recovered from Chintpurni, accused arrested

The Tarn Taran Police on Wednesday recovered the 17-year-old girl, who was abducted on gunpoint from outside a temple in village Algon Kothi in Tarn Taran on Monday, while the accused Mohabbat Singh, also a resident of village Algon Kothi, who abducted her, has been arrested. The girl was recovered from Chintpurni. The accused too was arrested from the same place as he was with the girl at the time.

The girl was abducted on gunpoint when she was coming out of the temple after paying obeisance there. She was accompanied by her brother Ajay Kumar Gora and her sister at the time of the incident.

The accused and his three accomplices came in a car and placed a pistol on Gora's forehead, the girl into the car and drove towards Bhai Laddu Kalsian village side. The police had registered a kidnapping case in this regard.

Giving details, SSP Tarn Tarn Manmohan Kumar Sharma said that the other three accomplices of the accused were yet to be arrested as they were absconding. He added that the accused had stopped at Ferozepur while taking the girl to Chintpurni. He averred that during investigations the police had found that the accused was attracted towards the girl.

On Tuesday the police had rounded up Mohabbat Singh's mother in connection with the case. "Efforts are being made to identify and arrest the other accused. Further investigations are being held into the matter," he said.
