The Railway Protection Force (RPF) have found the minor Jalandhar girl who was allegedly abducted and reunited her with her parents here on Friday in the presence of the Jalandhar police.

RPF officials found the girl in school uniform inside a waiting room during a routine checking of Platform 1 at Amritsar railway station and asked her what she was doing there?

The child was frightened and initially reluctant to answer the RPF queries, said RPF officials.

“However, after being coaxed, she divulged personal details, including her address and parents’ contact number.

She told police that she was kidnapped from near Sodhal railway crossing in Jalandhar by two people, who offered her a laced drink that made her unconscious, following which she was taken to Amritsar,” said inspector Arun Londhe, station house officer (SHO) of the RPF police station here.

He added that according to the girl, when she gained conscious on Friday morning, she found herself at the Golden Temple. “As she had no money, she asked for help from a devotee who gave her `10 that she paid to an auto-rickshaw to reach the railway station to return Jalandhar,” said Londhe.

The SHO added that the parents of the girl were informed over phone number provided by the girl. “They reached Amritsar with an official of the Number 3 police station in Jalandhar, where they had lodged a complaint,” he said.

The SHO added that the child was handed over to her parents and further investigation into the case was being conducted by the Jalandhar police.
