The police on Monday recovered a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted from Data village in the district on Saturday late evening and arrested two people, including a woman, in this connection.
Senior superintendent of police Surjit Singh Grewal said Charanjit Singh of Data village had complained to the police that a minor girl was abducted from the village. "After receiving the complaint, I constituted three special police teams for nabbing the culprits. The teams searched the call records of telephone of the girl's parents and found that one Aman Kumar 'Amana', a resident of Railway Colony in Moga, had called up the minor girl from his mobile phone several times. We also found that Amana abducted the girl forcibly and took her to his close relative's house in Ahmedgarh Mandi in Ludhiana district," the SSP said.
Grewal further said after a police party collected call record of Amana's mobile phone, it was found that he was living at Ahmedgarh Mandi. "Finally, police recovered the girl from the house of Parveen Kaur and arrested Amana and Parveen Kaur from the spot. It was Parveen Kaur who had provided a mobile phone to Amana for talking to the girl," he added.
The SSP maintained that the parents of the girl did not receive any ransom call from the kidnappers.
After the medical examination of the girl she was handed over to her parents. "A case has been registered against Amana and Parveen Kaur under various sections of the Indian Panel Code at Mehna police station. Further investigation is on," said Grewal.
The police party produced Amana and Parveen Kaur at a local court, from where they were sent in police custody.
