Accelerate Safe City Project, dy CM Tells Police

Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday directed the police to accelerate implementation of the Ludhiana safe city project, besides expressing satisfaction with the 181 police helpline.

In a meeting with Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and senior officers, including ADGP law and order Dinkar Gupta, the deputy CM said a fresh proposal should be submitted by the police department for its modernisation and requirements of other equipment, like vehicles, which would be a part of issues to be taken up before union home minister Rajnath Singh.

The police officers informed Sukhbir that under this project, 1,200 CCTV cameras would be installed in Ludhiana.

Badal also put stress on installation of speed cameras on all state highways and special cameras on all traffic lightpoints.

While reviewing the functioning of 181 police helpline, the deputy CM asked for undertakeing an independent audit as well as verification of satisfaction level of complainants.
