Police have registered a kidnapping case as attempt-to-murder accused Gurjot Singh Garcha had escaped from Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) with the help of his alleged armed accomplices two days ago.

According to the FIR, at least 15 unidentified men entered the CMCH on the wee hours of Monday and took Garcha along at gunpoint.

Hospital medical superintendent Dr William Bhatti lodged a complaint with the police, according to which, these men armed with weapons entered the hospital and threatened the staff after which they took away the patient.

He said Khanna police were deployed in the hospital to keep a watch on Garcha.

Amarjit Singh, who is investigating the case at Division No 3 police here, said a case had been registered under Sections 363 and 365 of the IPC. “We have started investigation and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused,” Singh said.

Garcha was admitted to CMCH after he suffered a bullet injury in a group clash at Khanna on November 15. Garcha was booked for attempt-to-murder.

Meanwhile, Khanna police raided various places to arrest Garcha.
