The Ludhiana police have decided to shift the acid attack victim to Mumbai for treatment. The police will bear the entire expense for the treatment of the girl who was attacked at the Sarabha Nagar market when she had gone to a beauty salon recently.

The victim will be shifted to National Burn Centre in Mumbai on Thursday in an air ambulance.

Police commissioner Nirmal Singh Dhillon said that after meeting doctors on Wednesday the decision to shift the victim to Mumbai was taken.

"I wanted that the best treatment be provided to the girl at any cost. Ludhiana police will bear the expenses on her treatment," Dhillon said, adding that the duty of the police didn't end at arresting the accused but it should also provide relief to the girl as she belongs to a poor family.

Earlier in the day, Dhillon met the victim at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) and asked about her condition.

Dr Sanjeev Uppal, HoD, plastic surgery, DMCH, said the victim's condition was stable and she could travel to Mumbai. A team of doctors from the DMCH would accompany her.
