ADGP reviews preparedness of police ranges

Additional director general of police (ADGP) law and order SK Sharma on Saturday called a meeting of police officials from Jalandhar and Ludhiana police ranges to discuss the preparedness of police forces to deal with law and order.

Additional director general of police (ADGP) law and order SK Sharma on Saturday called a meeting of police officials from Jalandhar and Ludhiana police ranges to discuss the preparedness of police forces to deal with law and order.


Major crimes and law and order incidents were discussed to draw lessons for the future.

The working of the anti-narcotic task force was reviewed and officers were instructed to streamline and gear up its operations, so that supply of intoxicants to public was stopped.

Functioning of the anti-human trafficking units was also reviewed and directions were given to follow the Union ministry of home affairs guidelines. Measures to be introduced so that travel agents did not cheat innocent people and proper legal action taken in such cases was also discussed

The ADGP clarified that all the 20 services covered under Right to Service Act have to be routed through the Saanjh Kendras so that the public gets prompt service in a friendly manner.

The meeting was attended by inspector general of police Gurpreet Deo, deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Jalandhar range Lok Nath Angra, DIG Ludhiana range MF Farooqui and senior superintendents of police from Jalandhar (rural), Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ludhiana (Rural), Khanna and Fatehgarh Sahib districts.
