Private schools in city are ready to start with the admission process for kindergarten and few of them have already updated the admission guidelines on their websites as well.
Several schools have made the admissions forms available both online and through school counter, while there are few who have made it only online.
Private schools such as BCM Arya Senior Secondary School, has decided to hike the school tuition fee by 8 to 10%, while Kundan Vidya Mandir (KVM), Civil Lines, has decided to hike the same by 8 to 9 % and Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, will hike the same by 8%.
Meanwhile, DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, has not decided the amount, but they too are thinking on the similar lines to hike the tuition fee.
Meanwhile, parents are a harried lot, as every year schools hike the fee which adds on to their burden.
One of the parents, Kalpana Sharma said: “Last year I admitted my daughter at a private school, considered one of the best in city. It cost me more than Rs 35,000 at one go. Every year private schools hike fee by 10 to 15% which is not fair.”
Another parent, Akhilesh Chopra, said: “Few private schools make admission process for kindergarten online, but there are several parents, who are not internet friendly. So schools must provide both facilities so that parents have an option to apply both online as well as through the school counter.”
Paramjit Kaur, principal of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, said: “We are starting with the admission process for nursery classes and the forms will be available on November 18 and 19. There is no change in the admission fee for kindergarten, but there will be a hike in the tuition fee of 8 to 10%. However, for convenience of parents we will make the forms available both online and through school counter.”
Sister Chantal, principal of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, said: “The admission process for LKG will start from October 23 and forms will be available online till October 28. The age criterion is three years three months and four years and three months as on March 31, 2014. However, parents can get the admission details through the school website where we provide an automatically generated username and a password, which will be provided only after complete submission of the online form and is not required before the submission.”
Navita Puri, principal of Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil lines, said: “The forms for admissions to LKG will be available in the second week of November and we are yet to decide about the fee structure. The fee will be hiked, but not more than 9%. There are 270 seats for LKG and the forms will be available from the school only. We are yet to decide whether we will offer online facility or not.”
Mona Singh, principal of Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar, said: “There will be no hike in admission fee, but we are increasing the tuition fee by 8%, which will be applicable from the new academic session, 2014 and we are not offering any online facility. However, admission forms will be available through the school counter only.”
