To prevent touts from cornering tickets in bulk, the ministry of railways has reduced the time period for advance booking of tickets from four months to two months from May 1, Wednesday.

A railway official informed that the ministry has decided that the advance reservation period would be reduced from existing 120 days to 60 days, excluding the date of journey from May 1.

"The bookings made up to April 30 would remain intact," he added. He said that the cancellation of the booking made beyond the advance reservation period of 60 days would, however, be permitted.
