After the district police recommended cancellation of a case against state president of Lok Janshakti Party Kiranjit Singh Gehri, the leader said he would approach the national commission for scheduled castes seeking a case against Bathinda SSP Swapan Sharma and Kotwali SHO for implicating him in a “false case”.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Gehri said the district police moved Bathinda court on April 22 and recommended the cancellation of a case against him and others, who were staging a protest demanding inquiry into the death of a person due to alleged negligence of doctors of a private hospital here on April 5.

He said he would approach the national commission for scheduled castes seeking a case against Bathinda SSP, and Kotwali SHO under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (prevention of atrocities) Act.

Gehri said he had been falsely implicated in the case under the arms act even though he had a licence for the weapon that the police claimed to have recovered from him.

The court has granted him bail in the case.

Kotwali SHO Sanjeev Mittal confirmed that police have recommended for canceling the case against Gehri and others though he said he is not in a position to divulge details of the inquiry on basis of which police made a move to cancel the case.

The SSP said they have recommended for cancellation of the case against Gehri and other accused registered under national highways act while some other cases against him are still pending in which he has been granted bail.
