After Jakhar, Bajwa attacks govt at Cong meet in Faridkot

After leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Jakhar addressed a Congress protest rally on Sunday, Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa also visited Faridkot to address a meeting of party workers on Monday. The meeting, that turned out to be a show of strength, was organised by newly-appointed halqa in-charge of Faridkot assembly segment Dhanjeet Singh Virk.

Though many leaders from outside the district attended the meeting, yet two senior Congress leader from the district Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon, a former member of the legislative assembly (MLA) from Faridkot, and general secretary of the state Congress committee and Joginder Singh, Congress legislator from Jaitu, who is also president of the district Congress committee, were conspicuous by their absence. They organised a protest rally here on Sunday, which was addressed by Sunil Jakhar, leader of the Opposition in the state assembly.

Speaking on the occasion, Bajwa said, “Punjab is facing a huge financial crisis as the government is earning Rs 33,000 crore but has to meet expenses of about Rs 44,000 crore on various services.
