In connection with a complaint lodged by a resident against I block community centre at BRS Nagar the chief vigilance officer VP Singh paid a visit to the Ludhiana Improvement Trust office on Tuesday.

Resident Baljit Singh had lodged a complaint with the secretary of local government stating that the community centre at the I block in BRS Nagar was being misused by the area welfare society. The community centre is supposed to cater to the needs of H and I block residents.

The allotment of the community centre was made to the welfare society in 1985. Complainant also complained that the maps of the building remained unapproved by the MC as a result the building was constructed illegally.

Baljit in his complaint had also stated that the community hall was being used as a guest house and not for residents' welfare activities.

VP Singh told HT that he had come to Ludhiana after complaints regarding the functioning of the Ludhiana Improvement Trust.

"I had received complaints regarding the community centre as well. I visited the spot and will take the records and other required documents along," he said.

He added that action would be taken in case discrepancies are found in the records.
