Former Hisar divisional commissioner Yudhvir Singh Khyalia, the Aam Aadami Party (AAP) candidate from Hisar for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, has vacated his official residence after a notice issued by the Hisar returning officer.

Hisar deputy commissioner (DC)-cum-returning officer (RO) ML Kaushik told Hindustan Times that he had sent a notice to Khyalia after receiving a complaint in this context by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on March 8.

The notice to Khyalia states: It is violation of the model code of conduct, which is already in force, by a former official, who had turned a political candidate, to use his official residence. "Following which, Khyalia vacated his residence," Kaushik said.

On March 8, 2014, INLD leaders had lodged a complaint with the chief electoral officer and the RO against Khyalia, stating that he had been still using his official residence and other facilities, and was running his political campaign from there.

Khyalia, who was commissioner of Hisar division, had recently taken voluntary retirement and joined the AAP last month.
