After skipping two crucial meetings with Ludhiana industry in the past one month, Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal will meet the business community of the city on Friday.

Badal has been constantly informed about the growing anger among the business community by his officials who are bombarded by memorandums and requests by the city industry over different issues regarding policies of the state government.

Two crucial meetings of Badal with the industry that had been planned during the past one month were cancelled one after another. The first meeting was supposed to take place on November 12 when a meeting, especially with the industry was scheduled at Ludhiana, while the second meeting was supposed to take place on November 21 during an engineering expo organised by the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU).

Now, the industry is all set to meet Badal at the Engineering Expo- 2014 that would kick start at GLADA grounds on Chandigarh Road on December 12. Industry in Ludhiana is ruing over different issues for the past long time and was waiting for Badal to discuss the issue.

United Cycle and Parts Manufacturer Association (UCPMA) president Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma said several problems were going on within the industry and needed to be discussed with deputy chief minister.

“The problem of value added tax (VAT) refund, sewerage sharing charges on industry, Advance Consumption Deposit (ACD) among other issues will be discussed with Badal during the meeting,” Vishivkarma said.
He said a memorandum had already been submitted with president of industrial wing of SAD, Satish Dhanda.

Dhanda said Sukhbir Badal had confirmed that he would come to Ludhiana on Friday, adding that he had three engagements in the city.
